Following is MOLISA’s Report on Occupational Accidents in the first half of 2006 and major measures to prevent occupational accidents and incidents in the second half of 2006:
A. OVERVIEW
I. Number of Occupational Accidents:
According to incomplete reports and statistics from 62/64 provinces and cities nationwide, 2,104 occupational accidents occurred in the first half of 2006 (including 63 traffic accidents listed as occupational ones), involving 2,204 people; 241 fatal accidents killed 258 and seriously injured 664.
II. Occupational Accidents in Localities:
Localities with high occupational fatality in the first half of 2006:
- Ho Chi Minh City: 125 accidents and 30 victims, including 42 fatal accidents (17.4% of total fatal accidents) which killed 42 and seriously injured 20.
- Quang Ninh: 145 accidents and 164 victims, including 25 fatal accidents (10.4% of total fatal ones) which killed 39 and seriously injured 99; 8 accidents involved more than 2 victims.
- Dong Nai: 620 accidents and 626 victims, including 12 fatal accidents (5.0% of total fatal accidents) which killed 12 and seriously injured 43; 5 accidents involved more than 2 victims.
- Binh Duong: 254 accidents and 257 victims, including 11 fatal accidents (4.6% of total fatal accidents) which killed 11
- Ha Noi: 28 accidents and 32 victims, including 8 fatal accidents (3.3% of total fatal accidents) which killed 8 and seriously injured 15
- Long An: 16 accidents and 16 victims, including 8 fatal accidents (3.3% of total fatal accidents) which killed 8 and seriously injured 8;
- Vinh Phuc: 10 accidents and 16 victims, including 7 fatal accidents (2.9% of total fatal accidents) which killed 8 and seriously injured 8;
- Thai Binh: 8 accidents and 8 victims, including 7 fatal accidents (2.9% of total fatal accidents) which killed 7 and seriously injured 1;
- Hai Phong: 102 accidents and 102 victims, including 5 fatal accidents (2.1% of total fatal accidents) which killed 5 and seriously injured 18;
