Report on Occupational Accidents in 2005

Following is MOLISA’s Report on Occupational Accidents in 2005 and major measures to prevent occupational accidents and incidents in 2006:

A. OVERVIEW

I. Occupational Accident Number:

By February 13th 2006, MOLISA have received occupational accident reports for 2005 from 60/64 Provincial DOLISAs. According to statistics provided by 60 provinces, the overall occupational accident situation is as follows:

- Total 4,050 occupational accidents, including 443 fatal accidents of which 59 involved more than two dead.

- Total 4,164 victims, of which 473 killed and 1,026 seriously injured

II. Occupational Accidents in Localities:

1. Ten localities with high occupational accident fatality in 2005:

- Hochiminh City: 543 accidents (13.41% of total accidents nationwide) and 572 victims (13.74% of total victims nationwide), including 64 fatal accidents which killed 66 and seriously injured 10.

- Quang Ninh: 256 accidents (6.32% of total accidents nationwide) and 265 victims (6.35% of total victims nationwide), including 34 fatal accidents which killed 42 and seriously injured 132; 1 accident killing 4.

- Đồng Nai: 1.207 accidents (29.80% of total accidents nationwide) and 1,219 victims (29.27% of total victims nationwide), including 29 fatal accidents which killed 29 and seriously injured 160; 9 accidents killing more than 2

- Ha Noi: 98 accidents and 105 victims, including 23 fatal accidents which killed 24 and seriously injured 40

- Ha Tay: 48 accidents (1.19% of total accidents nationwide) and 51 victims (1.22% of total victims nationwide), including 22 fatal accidents which killed 23 and seriously injured 29

- Binh Duong: 226 accidents (5.58% of total accidents nationwide) and 226 victims (5.43% of total victims nationwide), including 22 fatal accidents which killed 22

- Thanh Hoa: 54 accidents and 55 victims, including 16 fatal accidents which killed 16 and seriously inured 39.

- Binh Dinh: 63 accidents and 63 victims, including 15 fatal accidents which killed 15 and seriously injured 48

- Hai Phong: 284 accidents and 288 victims, including 14 fatal accidents which killed 15 and seriously injured 64

- Da Nang: 55 accidents and 65 victims, including 14 fatal accidents which killed 14 and seriously injured 17

2. Localities with greater fatal accident rate compared to 2004 are Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tay, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Binh Duong, Hoa Binh and Binh Dinh.
