Workshop on Nâtionl OSH Program held

A workshop titled "National Program on OSH" was organized in Hanoi on July 20-21, 2004, by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with the International Labour Organization. This was one of activities in the framework of the project "Capacity Building of OSH in agriculture in Vietnam" (RAS/04/M01/JPN).

Discussions at the workshop focused on developing and implementing national program on OSH, especially emphasizing on OSH in agriculture in the process of Vietnam's industrialization and modernization in rural areas. These were common concerns by officers who are involved in OSH activities. Therefore, in parallel with presentations, participants also introduced a lot of initiatives and solutions to developing objectives and contents of the national program on OSH and to enhancing OSH performance in agriculture.

Concluding the workshop, participants from ministries, industries and organizations representing employers and employees agreed that the task of OSH should be developed into a national action program. They also expressed their wish to closer cooperate for the aim of ensuring workers' safety and health./.
