Over 3,000 participate in the launching ceremony of the National Week on OSH and fire prevention in Lao Cai

In response to the 7^th Nation­ al Week on OSH and Fire Pre­ vention, on March 20^th 2005, Lao Cai province, a mountainous province in the North of Viet­ nam, organized a gathering in the centre of Bao Thang district that was attended by over 3,000 officers and workers from 41 en­ terprises. Many OSH activities took place in the province: OSH training for 4,504 people; compe­ tition to learn about OSH, fire; competition about OSH part­ ners, fire prevention methods and simulation. In addition Lao Cai city in consultation with com· petent authorities, formed a safe­ ty taskgroup to examine mar­ kets in the city, and enterprises dealing with inflammable sub­ stances. Special emphasis was made to help mountain peoples understand and comply with OSH standards in everyday life. Information was provided in Vietnamese, and translated by the local television station into the ethnic languages: Dao, Day, Thai and H'Mong.
