01:37' PM - Tuesday, 19/09/2006 | | In the context that occupational accidents and diseases are becoming more and more serious, and to ensure the sustainable development of agricultural field, on June 08, 2004, the Prime Minister promulgated Instruction No. 20/2004/CT-TTg on the strengthening of steering and implementing occupational safety and health in agriculture.
According to instruction by the Prime Minister, Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and other concerned Ministries and agencies should strengthen state administration in occupational safety and health. Details: soon accomplish the system of legal documents, develop Vietnamese standards on labor protection equipment, and speed up inspection of the compliance of occupational safety and health regulations in agriculture … Vietnam Confederation of Labor, Vietnam Farmers’ Union, Vietnam cooperative alliance are also responsible.
To better prevent occupational accidents and diseases in agriculture, MoLISA in collaboration with concerned Ministries, agencies develop an action plan on occupational safety and health in agriculture and supplement this to the National Program on occupational safety and health – fire and explosion prevention. MoLISA and other Ministries and agencies should speed up the study of Convention 184 on occupational safety and health in agriculture of the International Labor Organisation to submit to competent authorities for the time to come.
Besides, the Direction also put stress on information and propagation activities to help agricultural workers be aware of regulations, standards, safety techniques and preventive measures when using machines, equipment and pesticides. Source:
