This is a decisive motto for activities of the network members throughout the past years which was noted again at the 9th National OSH Information Network Meeting in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province held on 12th and 13th December, 2005. This Meeting was organized by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The Meeting is not only an annual forum for information exchange among members but also an opportunity for reviewing and recommending opinions and solutions to improving the operational quality of the National OSH Information Network, helping improve working conditions, ensure occupational safety and health, protect the health of workers and minimize occupational accidents and diseases.
Attending the Meeting were Vice Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Bach Hong and leaders, experts from ministries, industries, enterprises and Departments of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in some provinces and cities, international advisers from the International Labour Organisation, Danish Embassy and the Business Sector Program Support project. Addressing to open the Meeting, Vice Minister Le Bach Hong stressed that in the coming years, when we start up to implement the National Program on Labour Protection, the National OSH Information Network should be developed to help realize efficiently and practically objectives and activities worked out in the National Program. In particular, it should boost activities of information, propagation; strengthen exchange and sharing of experience of occupational safety and health performance among the network members; and expand research and application of OSH researches in production.
Regarding activities of the National OSH Information Network in 2005, as observed at the Meeting, the network members have increasingly strengthened their cooperation and information exchange, making positive contribution to State admi nistration over occupational safety and health. Moreover, renewing and improving the quality of OSH information dissemination to employers and employees have been also paid due attention. The organizational structure of the network has been consolidated and cooperation with international organizations in the field of OSH information and propagation has been boosted.
At the Meeting, Ms. Doan Minh Hoa Director General of the Bureau for Safe Work reported main points and information related to the National Program on Labour Protection and National Profile on Occupational Safety and Health. The following were presentations by representatives from the Ministry of Health, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance mentioning the situation of occupational diseases in 2005, dissemination of knowledge of safety, health and environfT\~ntal improvement in small and medium-sized enterprises and in cooperatives ... Beside reviewiop results gained in 200' presentations also included the analyses of the practical situation of occupational safety and health m their field as well as introduction of experience, solutions to improve the quality of information.
The issue of occupational safety and health in localities and enterprises also drew attention from participants. These included problems in handicraft villages in Ha Tay province, in small and medium-sized enterprises in Lam Dong province; experience of environmental improvement in Quoc Thinh Knitwear Co.Ltd (Lam Dong) and especially Preventive Medicine Centre in Dak Lak province with its development of occupational health profile at provincial level.
Furthermore, the participants in the Meeting were introduced to Component 2 "Improved Labour Conditions" under the Business Sector Program Support (BSPS) and work plan of the component in 2006; discussed plan on organizing the 8th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health and Fire-Explosion Prevention (scheduled to be held in the middle of March 2006 in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa)./.
