PLAN OF ACTION ON REVITALISING ASEAN OSHNET

Many studies have shown that economic development is strongly co-related to rising OSH standards. Many global companies also identify OSH as a key consideration in their investment decisions. Better OSH outcomes and a good OSH regime in this region will reduce disruptions to production and service capacities, as well as enhance business profitability and contribute to improving the happiness and well-being of workers. It will help position ASEAN as a stable and reliable operating environment for businesses, make it a more attractive investment destination and support the goals of ASEAN integration.

Bureau for safe work to joins ISSA on mine safety

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm recently allowed the Bureau for Safe Work under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalid and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to become a member of the Section on Prevention in the Mining Industry, which is an affiliate of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

Promoting and developing social security for developing countries

As you know, mining activity, which creates more jobs and contributs in no small part to the development of nations, has been increasingly strong. However, mineral exploitation is a high-risk occupation that causes occupational accidents and occupational diseases. With my personal experience, in the position as labor manager, insurance services at one of the resource-rich provinces of Vietnam and the director of all management activities on labor safety, labor inspection of Vietnam and particularly in the mining industry, I confirm that Social Security represents the basic human right and is a tool for building a harmonious society and civilization without exclusion

World Day for Safety and Health at Work – 28 April 2011

The 2011 World Day for Safety and Health at Work focuses on the implementation of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) as a tool for continual improvement in the prevention of workplace incidents and accidents. The ILO has prepared a report to serve as a background to this theme, a poster and other promotional materials for the occasion and invites you to join us in promoting this important day.

Vietnam Cooperative Alliance with Occupational Safety and Health

Currently, Vietnam has 17,049 cooperatives and unions of cooperatives, over 300,000 cooperative groups, 1,500 handicraft villages (in which 30% households are involved in handicraft work earning more than 50% of the total income of the handicraft villages), which operate in most sectors of the national economy.
