Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have created job opportunities and incomes for many employees and families. However, together with the fast development, SMEs have been facing lots of difficulties regarding the occupational safety and health: bad working conditions, risks of occupational accidents and diseases, polluted working environments by dust, noise and chemical substances.
Working Condition Improvement in Small Enterprises (WISE) program which has been applied in Vietnam since 2001 proven to be very suitable for Vietnamese Enterprises. It is also proved that communication education and trainings are very important for employers and employees in SMEs to promote Occupational Safety and Health at workplace
In order to expanse WISE program in 4 target provinces, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Dong Nai, The International Labour Organization office cooperated with Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to conduct a WISE/TOT for core trainers
from 08-12 Sep 2009 in Sam Son, Thanh Hoa.
The purpose of the WISE/TOT is (1) To establish a master trainer network of OSH in SMEs in 4 target provinces; (2) To apply WISE program to improve working conditions, OSH in SMEs and (3) To contribute to effective implementation the first National OSH program
The participants of the WISE/TOT are officials from concerned agencies and departments in target provinces; have experienced in OSH training, have good training skills of WISE, WIND or POSITIVE; have sound knowledge of Participatory Action Oriented Training Method (PAOT); Committed to coordinate with other concerned departments to implement trainings on OSH in SMEs (WISE) in 3 year – project implementation.
